I'm not politically savvy.
Although I certainly don't lack opinions.
I feel a sense of relief to have this presidential campaign end.
And I'm not sure I can explain why I'm crying about it? I didn't like either candidate. My heart broke when Mitt Romney lost.
Today is an historical day for our country. The CNN reporter just reminded us that this is a moment we will always remember. (A 9/11 kind of moment?)
I'm listening to what seems to be John McCain's best speech in a long time. And he's the loser. Yet graceful in his plea for unity and passion for the greatness of America, this promised land.
President Barak Obama. He's like a rock star. I'm amazed by people's response to him. I just saw Oprah at his party....
Which leads me to think of President Monson's recent plea to pray for the opening of the nations of the world to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Seems to me that we need to be praying more now than ever, trusting in the Lord's promises to save people by the prayers of the righteous.
AND now I'm holding my breath for Proposition 102 and 8 in California....
ADDENDUM: I'm breathing deeply again. (10:39 pm) Now I hope I can fall asleep!

Gratefully prop 8, 102 and 2 in Florida all passed. What a great day it is indeed to see that the people have chosen family. Let's just hope that 3-4 judges don't replace millions of voices.

proposition 108
i cried for about an hour after they anounced it too! Still a little upset about it toady!
It's nice to see that there is some positive results from these elections. I too cried & I'm sure I will shed more tears over this. We do need to pray even more now than ever before! I know the Lord will take care of us as long as we are faithful, but it's still so hard to profecies coming to pass & to think about what our children have to face in the future. Thanks Jennifer for always being positive & for reminding us all to rely on our faith in Christ.
Yeah for 102 and 8...I didn't realize FL had the same thing...I am so thrilled to have that extra protection now!!!
I experienced similar thoughts and emotions during this election. I have also felt the importance of praying for our new President, now as he selects his cabinet (and decision makers)and down the road as he implements and makes decisions that will effect us for years to come.
Sister Brinkerhoff,
I don't even know if you'll remember me, but you were my seminary teacher at Gilbert High in 2005. I stumbled upon your blog from someone else's and I was so delighted to see it was you! I just wanted to say hello and that it's wonderful to see that you are doing good, now I'll probably end up checking your blog occasionally to see how you are...
